What is working right now, and what has changed in the service.
Delivery to other providers is restricted by our hosting company. Mail inside rormail.com and rormail.org is unaffected.
Every mailbox now has its own page: space used, number of messages, the date of the last one, and a log of everything that happened to it. Passwords can be handed over through a link that closes itself after 24 hours instead of being sent in a messenger.
A mail app that stayed connected kept reading messages after the password had been changed. Now every password change disconnects open sessions immediately.
Folders, the message view and the action bar were rebuilt for narrow screens. Older messages beyond the first sixty can be loaded, and the list has a refresh button of its own.
One-time codes from an authenticator app can now protect the mailbox. Settings gained a light theme and six accent colours.
The webmail was replaced with a client we wrote ourselves: folders, search, attachments, keyboard shortcuts, and external images blocked by default — they are used to track when a message is opened.
Mailboxes can now be created on a second domain. Both work the same way and share one webmail.
The mail storage moved to NVMe drives. Search through a large mailbox became noticeably quicker.
Every incoming message is checked for DKIM, SPF and DMARC, and the result is shown right in the message — a forged sender is visible at once.
The filter was catching ordinary newsletters too eagerly. Thresholds were adjusted and the Spam folder became much quieter.
The default mailbox size went from 100 to 200 MB for everyone, old mailboxes included.
A mailbox no longer requires a phone number. Bot protection is handled by a check that costs a person nothing.
The service started with a single domain and a plain rule: no ads, no scanning of correspondence, no selling addresses to anyone.
